Best antivirus and adware removers?

I have recently receive spyware and a virus on my computer while my cousins were using my computer. I have no idea where they got it from but I cant get rid of them. I have Norton system works 2007 and spysweeper 2007. They are both up to date and both detects them and deletes both the adware and virus, but its there on the next boot. What else can I do or what software can I use? Thanks

I had similarproblems and it's a shame that some times you need more than one security tool instead of having one trhat does everything, sadly thats not the case,, You could try the free security tools which serve me well as extra arsenal.

Your best bet is to uninstall all of Norton. Get the uninstaller from the symantec website and uninstall it. I am a computer tech, and you are not the only one to be infected with a fully updated version of Norton. I see it all the time, here's what I know works get AVG, Avast, or the best of all Antivir. All of these beat Norton in detection hands down and are free. Now what you need to do is get Spyware Doctor Starter Edition which is free or AVG antispyware which is also free. These two antispyware programs rank one and two respectively in detection. Down load the new antivirus whichever you choose, and one or both of the antispyware program fully update these programs, then take your computer off of the net. Next scan your pc. This should get rid of the problem. If this doesn't work reboot your computer in safe mode then rescan. Problem solved.
